The town of Stawell, in western Victoria, is famous for its annual Easter athletics meet – the Stawell Gift.

At other times of the year, Stawell is like many other major country towns in Victoria.  There are some beautifully maintained historic buildings within a modern regional centre.

I recently enjoyed an hour or so walking around the Main Street and surrounds, taking lots of photos.  It might be just me, but Stawell seemed to have more churches, of various faiths, than other similar size towns.  I’m not religious, but I find old churches to be very photogenic, so I didn’t mid at all.
